Outlook 2007 or 2010 keeps asking for password when connecting to Exchange server

Hi,

If outlook 2007 or 2010 keeps asking for password when connecting to Exchange server, you have two options to solve this problem:

  1. Close MS Outlook an browse to “C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalMicrosoft”, here you can delete/rename “Outlook” folder. after removing the folder start outlook and problem should be solved.
  2. If u are using Windows 7 or higher, then this is usually tied to the cached credentials in the vault. Go to Control panel, user accounts, manage credentials, and then delete any saved credentials.

Re-assign existing mailbox to new user

1. Disable the existing mailbox using EMC -> Recipient Configuration
2. This disabled mailbox will appear in EMC -> Disconnected Mailbox
3. Enable the disabled mailbox using Connect button on right Action page, which will initiate a new wizard. There you will have to connect this mailbox with the new user account.

Upgrade MS Exchange 2010 SP1 to SP2

Before you can start upgrading your exchange serve to Service Pack 2 you need to prepare/install some features. start powershell with admin privileges:

Run this commands to prepare the environment

  • Extend the Schema to 2010 SP1 via setup.com /ps
  • Prepare the AD Forest to Exchange 2010 SP1 via setup.com /preparead
  • Prepare the AD Domain(s) to Exchange 2010 SP1 via setup.com /pa

After preparing the environment you must install the needed roles/features

[shell]
Import-Module ServerManager
[/shell]

Install IIS 6 WMI Compatibility:

[shell]
$s = Get-WindowsFeature web-wmi
$x = $s.Installed
if ( $x = "false") {
Add-WindowsFeature Web-WMI
} else {
"Install not needed"
}
[/shell]

on the OWA you also need to install the:

[shell]
Add-WindowsFeature RSAT-ADDS
[/shell]

Default Exchange 2010 OWA shows blank page

Having installed Microsoft Exchange 2010 sp1 and everything is working well but you have a similar issue as I had “Default Exchange 2010 OWA shows blank page”. Apparently the Exchange 2010 sp1 install doesn’t install all pre-requisites.

Outlook Web Access re-directs to the URL: https://xxx.yyy.local/owa/auth/logon…l/owa&reason=0

Run these commands in Power Shell to fix this problem:
[ps]Import-Module ServerManager
Add-WindowsFeature NET-Framework,RSAT-ADDS,Web-Server,Web-Basic-Auth,Web-Windows-Auth,Web-Metabase,Web-Net-Ext,Web-Lgcy-Mgmt-Console,WAS-Process-Model,RSAT-Web-Server,Web-ISAPI-Ext,Web-Digest-Auth,Web-Dyn-Compression,NET-HTTP-Activation,RPC-Over-HTTP-Proxy -Restart[/ps]

Mailbox Regional Configuration

I want to show you how you can change a mailbox regional configuration. Imagine you have a mailbox with wrong regional settings, and your mailbox folders have a wrong language.

you can use this script to reset the folder names to the language you want:
[ps]
Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration -Identity "user01" -Language nl-NL -LocalizeDefaultFolderName:$true
[/ps]

you can also change the complete regional settings, to do this you can use this script:
[ps]
Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration -Identity "user01" -Language nl-NL -LocalizeDefaultFolderName:$true -TimeFormat HH:mm -DateFormat d-M-yyyy
[/ps]

Import pst in exchange 2010

To import your pst file in you mailbox trough exchange you can use this script:

[ps]
New-MailboxImportRequest -Mailbox "$user" -FilePath "YourServerPSTfolder$psdFile"
[/ps]

to do this for 100 or more emails you can use this script:

1) first create a csv file with 2 variables like below and save it as “userpst.csv” :
[text]
user,pst
testuser1,testpst1
testuser2,testpst2
[/text]

2) run this script:
[ps]
$dataSource=Import-Csv "userpst.csv"
foreach($datarecord in $dataSource){

$user="$dataRecord.user"
$psdFile="$datarecord.pst"

New-MailboxImportRequest -Mailbox "$user" -FilePath "YourServerPSTfolder$psdFile"
}
[/ps]
