Outlook 2007 or 2010 keeps asking for password when connecting to Exchange server


If outlook 2007 or 2010 keeps asking for password when connecting to Exchange server, you have two options to solve this problem:

  1. Close MS Outlook an browse to “C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalMicrosoft”, here you can delete/rename “Outlook” folder. after removing the folder start outlook and problem should be solved.
  2. If u are using Windows 7 or higher, then this is usually tied to the cached credentials in the vault. Go to Control panel, user accounts, manage credentials, and then delete any saved credentials.

Outlook 2010/Exchange 2010 Email address no longer valid

Use one of the following methods to reset the whole Outlook nickname cache for Microsoft Outlook 2010.
Method 1

  1. With Outlook 2010 open, click File (BackStage), and then click Options.
  2. Click the Mail tab.
  3. Under Send Messages, click Empty Auto-Complete List.

Outlook will generate a new nickname cache.
Method 2

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. Start Outlook by using the /CleanAutoCompleteCache switch.For example: Outlook.exe /CleanAutoCompleteCacheNote If Outlook is not installed in the default location, you must point to the path of Outlook.exe.

Outlook will generate a new nickname cache.

Outlook 2010 doesn’t save password (Exchange)

Go into Outlook – File – Info – Account Settings – Double click the Exchange Account – More Settings – Security Tab – CHECK the Always Prompt for Logon Credentials – Close Outlook – enter username and password – click on Remember my Credentials – close Outlook and repeat – and don’t forget to click on Remember my Credentials.    Go back into More Settings – Security Tab – and REMOVE the check from the Alway Prompt for Logon Credentials.  Close Outlook and it should work!

Outlook 2010 Disable automatic download

For several versions now, Microsoft has, by default, prevented the automatic download of embedded images in HTML email messages received in Outlook. But there is indeed some granular control over which images are blocked and which are allowed, depending on the source of the message and the download source of the images.

In Outlook 2010 you control these settings in the Trust Center. You can access the Trust Center in Outlook 2010 you select File, Options, Trust Center, then select Trust Center Settings. Figure 1 shows the Outlook 2010 Trust Center Automatic Download options window. These options provide a few ways of allowing images to appear in email messages while still blocking images from unknown sources.

These settings controlling automatic downloads are saved in the registry, although the keys don’t exist until the defaults are changed. Figure 1 shows the different keys that map directly to the options listed in Figure 1. As registry keys, they’re easily managed by administrators through Group Policy, logon scripts, or other centralized administration tool.
